As willing as I am to make personal sacrifices, the most effective way for the U.S. to achieve energy security is still through policy.

I agree. These will help reduce energy consumption, but not significant enough to eliminat the need for better policy for wider sweeping changes.

That question is flawed.

In many cities, public transit is pleasant, cheap, and easy. Really, if built and maintained with care, the public transit system is vasty superior to auto-commuting and NOT a sacrifice.


We need a radical rethinking of energy production, delivery and distribution, and intensives. We should have learned our lesson in 1974, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
